MISSION
Edgewood Presbyterian Church supports many local and denominational missions, regularly tithing 10 percent of our annual budget in support of mission, with many additional opportunities to give.
Mission work means service as well, and we like to get our hands dirty, seeking to be the hands of Christ in the world. Each Sunday after worship a group meets to "Feed Your Neighbors" — packing lunches from groceries brought by worshipers. The lunches go to the Food For Our Journey project, which gets those meals to hungry people. Members are invited to introduce us to other ways we can serve and provide. Organizations we work with and support include: • Living River – Presbyterian camp and retreat center on the Cahaba River • Matthew Twenty-Eight – feeding the hungry and caring for orphans in Haiti • PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteers • Heifer International • Habitat for Humanity • First Light Women’s Shelter • Firehouse Men’s Shelter • Frontera de Cristo • Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley Congo Partnership • Presbyterian Home for Children • ARC of Jefferson County • Alabama Arise • Greater Birmingham Ministries • Living Waters for the World • Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now) • Magic City Acceptance Center • Community Grief Support • UKirk Birmingham |
